European standards

European regulations are used where they cover the need:

• EN 12845 — sprinkler systems
• EN 12259 series — sprinkler components
• EN 16925 — residential sprinkler
• EN 15004 series / ISO 14520 — gas-based suppression systems
• EN 15276 — condensed aerosol
• EN 54 series — fire alarm and detection
• EN 12094 — components for fixed gas suppression systems

International framework

Where European regulations are not sufficient — for example for modern data centres and specialist installations:

• NFPA 13 — installation of sprinkler systems, including ESFR and high-rack storage
• NFPA 2001 — clean agent systems
• NFPA 2010 — fixed aerosol systems
• NFPA 75 / 76 — IT equipment and telecommunications facilities
• NFPA 750 — water mist systems
• NFPA 25 — inspection and maintenance of water-based systems
• NFPA 72 — fire alarm
• NFPA 11 — foam
• FM Global Data Sheets — including 5-32 for data centres, where insurance or risk profile requires it
